I LOVE the suggestion to try to get court-ordered counseling for the kids. Deprogramming works. The only reason it isn't done more often is because a person usually can't force a loved one into counseling. A court order CAN. Heck, I'd try to get custody while you're at it. Hit them with the dangerous blood doctrine, the aggressive hatred of anyone non-JW, the passive ok nod toward wife-beating, the pedophile coverups, EVERYTHING. They'll thank you later.

My Husband's Kids Have Cut Him Off
by headisspinning inwell, my husband's worst fear has happened.
he told his kids, ages 15 and 10 that he was coming to visit them over the holidays.
his ex-wife limits his telephone contact to one call per week, so when he called them last week to arrange the specific days he would see them, his son told him that he got baptized back in september and would no longer be willing to see his father.. this came as a complete shock.

I wouldn't confront the ex or the kids. I'd call my lawyer. But I have passive-aggressive issues.
Sorry this is happening to you. I love Leaving's Awake! quote. Good luck to you both.

Recent C.O. visit: Bad news re: U.S. English meeting attendance
by Open mind invisiting a nearby town during his thursday night service talk mentioned how poor meeting attendance is in the english-speaking u.s. congregations.
he said that when the gb reduced the weekly meetings from 3 to 2, there was a brief surge in meeting attendance percentages.
after a few months it began to slide and it hasn't stopped sliding.

Another thing that has hurt the meeting attendance count is a rule they're increasingly enforcing to get more people to the Kingdom Hall.
People who don't go to the meeting but who are connected by the telephone line are counted as being in attendance. BUT, the Borg doesn't like empty chairs at the Kingdom Hall so they made the rule that only people who are known to be elderly or ill get to call in to the meeting. People who are just tired or a little under-the-weather can no longer do so. This rule was made so that those tired/under-the-weather people would HAVE TO go to the Kingdom Hall. LMAO at the backfire. They're just not going OR calling in, and the count numbers go down even further.
A friend of my parents tried calling in to the meeting recently when not feeling well. Since she isn't on the list as one with an illness or being elderly, they turned her down and wouldn't connect her. She not only stayed home, she was pissed at the body of elders. The Borg is going to destroy itself.
By the way, isn't it a little late for yearbooks this year? I want to see the worldwide report.

JuanViejo2, I just noticed I had a typo on the date. It was aired on the 19th not the 18th. Thanks for hosting these.
I gave Steve Hassan the links, too, and he told me he'll send them out on his twitter feed. Way cool.

If taking blood is the worst thing one can do to defile a body, that would make it worse than smoking, no? Why then is smoking a disfellowshipping offense but taking blood is not? Explain that, true believers.

The Magazine "The Plain Truth." Remember It?
by AvocadoJake indo you remember the magazine and the author of this magazine, any old timers know who the backers were?
i was five years old, when the old man was the editor or author of this religious magazine.
did you ever talk to any of the followers of this movement?

The sad thing about this religion is that subsequent to its reform toward a mainstream Christian religion, a pretty good number of their members broke off to form a more traditionalist conservative cult-like sect again. Some people just don't want to be free.
